The Creds

I married my soulmate. I’m a proud mother of two, and love being Grammy to four amazing grandchildren. Before entering full-time ministry, I worked as a graphic designer and art director at the University of Iowa while serving my church. Answering God’s call mid-career, we packed up the family to serve as missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators for six years, working alongside the Guji people in Ethiopia.
I hold Bible certificates from Moody Bible Institute and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Azusa Pacific University. After Ethiopia, I provided biblically based business coaching in Orlando. Passionate to leave a legacy of faith through my writing, I’m blessed that Eve Blameless and Beloved has won some awards, including a first-place award in nonfiction.
I love spending time with family near and far, and living in sunny Florida, where I enjoy tending to my backyard oasis.

A Note from Kathy

Friend, even when life seems comfortable, know this: We’re in a battle. The devil’s lies and the desires of this world are counterfeit promises, waging war to lure us from God, and they come at a price.

Fame, fortune, power, acceptance, and security demand we sacrifice contentment, peace, and the pleasures of meaningful relationships. We pay for worldly achievement with the currency of our time, energy, and emotions. This requires us to work harder and longer, perform perfectly, and compromise our health and family priorities. However, we’re not fallen or frail; we’re Ezers, lovely warrior women fighting for our faith.

At twenty-five, I began reading the Bible and haven’t stopped. I devoured God’s precious words with a ravenous hunger to know him. The prophet Jeremiah described my heart. “When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty” (Jeremiah 15:16).

I remember when God first called to my heart. I was ten years old, and God seemed to say, “Let me have my way in your life.” But I heard, “Let me be the boss of your life. No more fun. Become a nun.” I said, “Not now, later.” Fifteen years later, I said yes to God. I might have responded sooner if someone had told me that because of Jesus, God wanted to lavish me with love and acceptance, deepen my relationships, and bring joy and a bright future.

Since accepting God’s invitation, life has been far from fun—it’s been exhilarating, filled with adventure, fulfillment, and satisfaction. Okay, sometimes difficult and hard. But when pain comes, God exquisitely turns it into healing and wholeness as he stands at my side. I am humbled and privileged to share God’s message of hope with you.

I invite you to enter a conversation about God, your spiritual walk, and your writing.
